Glamping at Thornfield Farm in County Antrim

Check out my video for the full experience on Glamping in Antrim.

If you’ve never had the glamping experience, you may be pleasantly surprised at the sheer luxury of these little pods.

And make sure to stick around for the nearby attractions, and the outtakes at the end :)

Further Space Luxury Glamping Pods at Thornfield Farm

I really can’t fault them one bit. The pods are so toasty warm and cosy with a comfortable bed, little bathroom with a fab shower, fridge, and tea & coffee making facilities, what more could you ask for? A barbecue and campfire pack of course, and they provide that too! If you’re not too sure about the whole idea of camping, maybe you like the idea of being at one with the great outdoors but sleeping in a tent and peeing in the bushes might not be up your street, then definitely give these pods a shot, it’s a whole other level with comfort all the way!

Thornfield Farm is perfect for a few days away to explore the North Antrim Coast, suitable for families, couples, or a group of friends wanting a few day’s break next to nature. Located in Stranocum, Ballymoney, just a few miles from the seaside town of Ballycastle and the famous Bushmills, and only a few minutes drive from The Dark Hedges and various other Game of Thrones filming locations, it’s the perfect place to stay for GOT fans!

Don't stay for one night, stay for two, or maybe make it three. We stayed at the pods for two nights, then spent the afternoon at The Giant’s Causeway on our way back and we were kicking ourselves that we didn't take a third night at the pods.

Things to do in the area:

  • Spend the evening with a roaring campfire and barbecue at your pod. My advice, if you want to save some time looking for firewood, come prepared with a few logs in the boot of your car, and a spare firelog or firelighters. Also, as you may have seen from my video, bring a big umbrella just in case you need to save the bbq from evening showers. You gotta love the spontaneity of the Irish weather!

  • If you do nothing else while you're in Antrim, go visit The Giant's Causeway and spend the day there, it’s breathtaking, and has been named of one of the greatest natural wonders in the world. To be honest, no fancy description or photo can do this place justice, it’s just something you need to experience on your trip to Ireland. Best times to visit are off peak season or early in the morning when there are fewer tourists around, and check the weather in advance, best to go on a clear, dry day for the stunning views.

  • If you’re lucky enough to have good weather, spend an afternoon in the seaside town of Ballycastle. It has a wonderful beach, spotlessly clean, and with the golden sand it’s hard to believe you’re still in Ireland. There are lots of bars and restaurants around to enjoy lunch or an evening meal, and probably best to make an advance reservation during the busy summer months. We ate in The Central Bar while there, had a bit of a wait for a table (that’s why I say to make a reservation in advance) but the food was exceptional. I had the “Bang Bang Chicken”, with a name like that I just had to order it! 10/10

  • Ballintoy harbour is another for the Game of Thrones fans (the Iron Islands and Dragonstone), and is just a short drive away. A little hard to find but Google Maps should have you there in no time. There's a gorgeous little beach, rock climbs, a couple of caves that might bring out the explorer in you and some stunning views. There is a small coffee shop with hot drinks and cakes which you can enjoy take away while taking in the breathtaking scenery. If you're looking for lunch or dinner while you're in the area, just a few minutes drive away is the Fullerton Arms Hotel in Ballintoy village. Amazing traditional Irish dishes in the bar - I recommend the Seafood Chowder and the Mussels in a Dry Cider & Wholegrain Mustard sauce. Fabulous day out in Ballintoy, and I’d go back for those mussels!

For a memorable few days, away from the hustle & bustle of city life, and to get right next to nature, the Further Space Pods at Thornfield Farm get a big thumbs up from me.
